We’re so happy to have Trish Lambert giving our keynote this year. Here’s an updated description of her talk:
Robots on Film: Friend, Fiend, and Dystopia
Though the word “robot” is of early 20th-century origin, the idea of mechanical beings has been with us for thousands of years. Many of the mid- to late century and 21st-century science fiction stories in books, comics, TV, and film are robot-assisted if not robot-centric. Why are we so interested in robots, and why are we torn about their nature? How do robots figure into dystopic fiction? Trish Lambert will consider these and other questions through an examination of TV and film stories.
